A Georgia native, Dr. David Register received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, in Athens, GA where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He went on to complete his medical education at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia in 1981. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Register completed an internship in general surgery at the Keesler USAF Medical Center in 1982 and then entered the residency program in anesthesiology at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. He became staff anesthesiologist and director of surgical intensive care at that facility for three years after completing his training.

Prior to relocating to Highlands, he was in private practice with Valdosta Anesthesia Associates, PC, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, GA, a group practice with seven physicians, and 15 other providers. Register joined the the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital medical staff in 2002.

He is board certified in anesthesiology and holds special credentials in Critical Care Medicine.
