Highlands-Cashiers Hospice provides a special kind of compassionate, home-focused care to terminally-ill residents of southern Macon and Jackson Counties.

With a specially trained team of care givers comprised of nurses, physicians, a social worker, a dietitian, a pharmacist, a chaplain and numerous volunteers, Highlands- Cashiers Hospice strives to honor the personal choices of its patients while treating the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the dying and their families.

Hospice concentrates on making patients as free of pain and as comfortable as possible, while maintaining their dignity and peace. A primary goal of the program is to allow patients remain among their loved ones.

Hospice services are available to anyone with a life expectancy of six months or less, regardless of the nature of the illness. Patients do not necessarily need to be referred by a physician, but they must meet set Hospice gudielines. The individual's own physician can work with our program's medical director to develop and implement the appropriate plan of care.

The program also offers family support and bereavement counseling, including support even after a patient's death. For More on Hospice Services, click here.
